Chapter 1: Gadget

"Are you sure about this?" Asked Lexi. "She's not even real!"

    "Yes she is!" Nyla spat.

    "No she's not. Some random guy made her up while sitting on the toilet," Lexi disagreed. She crossed her arms and walked away, eyeing Nyla angrily.

    "Busty Whisker, the famous director. And he did NOT come up with her while sitting on the toilet!"

    "Guys enough arguing! I can't concentrate," Lilly hushed them.

    "What are you working on anyway?" asked Nyla, watching Lilly glue and tape her creation.

    "It's a ghost detector. I learned how to make it in Ghost camp last year," replied Lilly. Using her screwdriver she twisted the last screw in to secure the structure.

    "Do you seriously believe that we are being haunted by ghosts?" Lexi laughed. "Ghosts aren't real! Somebody's probably just trying to pull a prank on us. And they aren't fooling me!"

    "Shhh!"

    "Whatever, I'm going outside,"

    "Finito!" Lilly raised the finished gadget in the air. "Like I told you, it's a ghost detector and detects when ghosts are near. It has three basic parts that you need to understand to use it. First, there's the switch. It's kind of strange. So you see this?" Lilly pointed to a silver bar on the side of the gadget. "This string, you put it underneath the bar and tie it. After that you pull the string and the bar should fall off. Then you can use the detector,"

Lilly demonstrated it step by step. "To re-attach it, simply slide it back on like this. Now, the second part is the ghost meter. And-"

    "Come on girls let's go outside!" Nyla hollered. And a stampede of little girls raced out the door. Lilly looked outside horror struck. They hadn't listened to what she had  said.

    "Well when they need this the most they wont know had to use it," grumbled Lilly as she marched upstairs. When she reached her room she slammed the door open, launching herself onto the bed. How are we ever going to catch her? 

    A little while later Lexi slammed Lilly's bedroom door urgently. "Lilly you have to see this! It's her! It's the Mad Witch! From Busty Whisker!"

    "WHAT?"

Chapter 2: The Storm

The girls ran downstairs and into the kitchen.

    "Alright, on three we bust open the door, okay?" Lilly said, nodding to the others. They looked at each other uneasily. "Three, two,"

    "Um... I'm not certain we should-" 

    "ONE!" Everyone ran to the door and kicked it open. "ATTAAAAAAAAACk!"

    People screamed and hollered everywhere looking for shelter as a little girl flew on here broom and yelled "The rain pours down in sheets of gray, we must stay safe, we must not stray. The trees bend low, the branches break, we must be strong, we must not quake!" 

    The girl cackled and flew, continuing to cause chaos.

    "I thought witches were supposed to be old and wrinkly!" Lexi cried, the wind in her face.

    "Busty whisker wanted to do something original, so he made the Mad Witch a little girl," Lilly told Lexi.

    "Guys, I think we have bigger problems to worry about!" Nyla screamed.

    Up in the sky, dark clouds were beginning to form, and the wind grew stronger.

    "A storm is starting! Take cover!" Lilly and her friends ran in. Lilly was about to enter when she saw a little boy all alone and crying.    

    "Come on!" Lexi called. "What's the holdup?"

    "There's a little boy all alone!"

    "His mamma will come get him! Come!"

    Lilly waited. The parents weren't coming. Lilly knew what she had to do. Her heart pounding in her chest, she raced across the street, grabbed a light pole and spun around grabbing the boy and taking him in her arms. Still holding on to the light pole, she shielded the boy from the wind and rain. Lilly's feet slipped 

and slid as she ran the sidewalk. She sat down with the boy at a bus stop and waited. "It's going to be okay," she told him. Even though she wasn't sure herself.

    Suddenly, the wind grew very strong and the same whistles and whispers were heard like the night before soon it began to form words.

    "What's that sound?" The boy asked.

    "It's nothing. Just stay here,"

Step through the gateway, don't be afraid, In this hidden realm, dreams are made. The sky is painted with colors bright, and stars twinkle in the night.
