When I was 9, my parents bought me a beautiful baby blue bicycle. It was shiny, sleek, and to me, it was perfect. However, there was a significant detail, it didn’t have training wheels. I had never ridden a bike before, but I was determined to teach myself, regardless of how scary the task seemed.
One sunny afternoon, I decided it was time to face the challenge. I carefully wheeled the bike out of the house and stood there for a moment, contemplating my plan. My mother, observing from the kitchen window, offered an encouraging smile. Little did she know how many failed attempts were about to unfold.

With my heart racing, I mounted the bike, gripping the handlebars tightly. I pushed off with my feet, and for an instant, I felt a rush of excitement. Unfortunately, that moment was brief. The bike wobbled uncontrollably, and within seconds, I found myself sprawled on the ground, tangled up with the bike. It was not the smooth start I had dreamed of.
Despite the fall, I was persistent. I stood up, dusted off my clothes, and once again climbed onto the bike. I was determined to succeed. "I can do this," I told myself, willing myself to believe that balance would come naturally with enough persistence. I envisioned myself riding effortlessly down the street, although I was still struggling just to stay upright.

What followed was a series of trial and error, mostly error. I pushed off, pedaled as best as I could, only to wobble and fall once again. Each attempt ended the same way: with me on the ground, feeling frustrated yet somehow amused by my repeated failures. But I refused to give up. Each fall was a step closer to achieving my goal, or so I convinced myself.
Then, after what felt like an eternity of failed attempts, it finally happened. I pushed off once again, and this time, I didn’t fall. I managed to stay upright for more than just a few seconds. It was a breakthrough moment. Though I was moving slowly and cautiously, I was riding! It felt like I had discovered a new skill entirely.
