Inspired by my favorite poem of all time:
The Orange
by Wendy Cope

Orange lived in a quiet neighborhood where he often took walks, admiring the scenery around him.
Every day, Orange set out to meet his friends at the grocery store.
As he began his daily journey, he stopped to greet the neighborhood cat, Pickle, who acknowledged Orange with a warm "meow!"

"Meow!"
Continuing on his path, Orange slowly strolled through his town.
He noticed the gravel crunch under his weight and the smell of the flowers on the subtle breeze. He took his time admiring each petal, captivated by their beauty.

Making his way through the park, Orange listened as the trees swayed in the wind. He hears their leaves sing as they gently caress each other.
He befriends a butterfly who seems to glide effortlessly to the chorus of the trees.

Nearing the end of his walk, Orange finds himself at the top of a hill. He decides to roll his way down.
Coming to a stop as he reaches the end of the mound, Orange feels euphoric, invigorated by his new method of downhill travel.
The grocery store is now within Orange's sight.

In the grocery store, Orange finds his friends Pear and Strawberry who have been waiting excitedly for him.
They decide, as they usually do, to have a picnic and watch the sunset.
They then walk through the isles of the store together, filling a wooden basket with an assortment of snacks.

"Orange!"
"Hey, Orange! You up for another picnic?"
"Always!"
During their picnic. the fruits watch the sun dip below the horizon. Orange finds himself deep in thought, reminiscing about his roll down the hill earlier that day.
He forgets about the trees swaying in the distance and the sun's reflection off of the clouds, instead letting the memories of the hill occupy his mind. He feels excited for tomorrow as it brings another opportunity to roll down the hill.

The next day, Orange runs out the door and right past Pickle.
There is only one thing that Orange is focused on.

He dashes through the town, forgetting about the flowers and the gravel.

In the park, he does not notice the sounds of the trees or his new friend. He continues quickly onward.

Finally, he arrives at the top of the hill.
Without hesitation, he leaps downward, making a quick, joyful descent.
As he reaches the bottom, euphoria once again envelops him.
But Orange continues onward, knowing his friends are expecting him.

At the store, Orange is visibly discontent. He finds himself missing the hill even in the presence of his friends.
Once again, they gather materials for their picnic.

As Pear and Strawberry watch the day fade into the night, they notice that their friend seems lost in thought.

The next morning, Orange wakes up feeling strange.
As he begins his run, his surroundings blur at the thought of the hill. Pickle looks sad as Orange sprints past him, seemingly indifferent to his meows.

"Meow! Meow!"

Orange speeds through the town, knowing that the hill will cheer him up.
