Scanning

Scanning is a reading technique in which a reader scans the page with their eyes in order to find specific information.
Time efficiency: Scanning helps you quickly find information without reading every word.
For example,
1. You need to find a friend's phone number in a directory or contact list. You quickly run your eyes down the list, focusing on the names until you find the one you're looking for.
2. You want to know the price of a particular item in a catalog. You scan the product descriptions, focusing on the numbers until you find the price.


Getting the gist
The "Getting the Gist" technique is a reading strategy used to quickly understand the main idea or overall meaning of a text without focusing on every detail. It helps you grasp the core message or key points in a short amount of time.
For example,
1. You scroll through a long social media post. You might not read every sentence, but you get the gist of the person's message or feeling.
2. When reading instructions to assemble a product, a person can get the gist by understanding the general steps that need to be followed, without memorizing every single detail.
Predicting,
Predicting is a reading strategy where you make educated guesses about what will happen next or what the text will cover based on the information you already know. This technique helps to engage with the material, build connections, and enhance comprehension.
