Out on the rocks, off the coast of Maine,
lives a very large seal who is gentle but vain.
Because he could swim and gaze at the coast,
he was quite certain that he knew the most.
“Certainly no one could know more than me, especially
those who walk on four legs or fly from a tree.”

Across the bay lived a beautiful Puffin,
who walked with his chest out as though it was stuffin.
He flew through the air at the greatest of heights,
certain that only he could be right.
“Surely no one could know more than I,
at least not anyone who cannot fly.”

In the neighboring woods lived a majestic Moose,
who could be quite kind, but also obtuse.
He was certain that of all the animals in these parts,
none could compare to the Moose’s smarts.
“Clearly of all the creatures about,
few are as smart and none are as stout.”

One day the three surprisingly met,
by the shore on a small patch of grass that was wet.
On one of the rocks sat the beautiful Puffin,
eating the remnants of a blueberry muffin.
Next to him sat the seal, large and black,
eating some eel fish for a snack.
Finally, just a few feet away,
stood the very large moose at the edge of the bay.
He was eating some grass looking down as he did,
he couldn't be bothered to raise his very large head.

As each of the three munched on their snacks,
the seal broke the silence, stating this as fact,
“You both should go over to the whirlpool “Old Sow”,
from there you will see quite a show.
There is a narrow and tall structure which is red and white,
and out of one side comes the brightest of lights.
It really is something to see,
you both should go look, take it from me.”
