One day, Papa gingerbread man looked
down at his little gingerbread children and
told them that it was time for them to learn
to build their little gingerbread houses.
"It is important that you learn to build a
strong safe gingerbread house that will protect
you from all the bad things that lurk in the
forest." He said.

So, the three little gingerbread kids were
released into the forest for the first time without
their parents to build their gingerbread houses.
The forest was big and the sun was warm.
The light trickled through the leaves of the trees
and danced on the ground making it the perfect
day to play. The temptation was far too great for
the youngest little gingerbread girl and her
brother, so they decided to find a way to build
their houses quickly.

The youngest gingerbread girl used
gumdrops to build her house because they
were easy to stick together. She knew that she
could finish her house in a fraction of the time
that it took her brother and sister, and it would
still look nice since the gumdrops were so
colorful.
So, the youngest gingerbread girl finished
her house in only a few hours and ran into the
forest to play.

Her brother saw her playing in the forest,
and he wanted to go play too. But, he wanted
his house to be strong, so he used hard candy.
"Hard candy will be much stronger than
my sister's soft gumdrops, but it will be just as
fast." He thought to himself.
So, he finished his house with it taking him
only a little more time than it took his younger
sister to finish her house with gumdrops, and he
joined her in the forest to play.

After hours had passed, the little gingerbread
boy noticed that his older sister had never joined
them in the forest to play.
"Let's go see what is taking her so long."
The little gingerbread boy said.
So, when they arrived at their older
sister's house, they were amazed to see all
the work that she had done.

The oldest gingerbread sister had built her house
out of stone and used candy only to decorate it.
"Wow, that looks like a lot of work!" Said the
little gingerbread boy.
"And, it took so much time!" Said the little
gingerbread girl. "You didn't get to play at all."
They both shouted.
"But, my house has a strong foundation."
replied the older gingerbread girl. But her younger
brother and sister just laughed at her.

Meanwhile in a nearby forest, there lived a Big
Bad Baker Boy who had forgotten to take his
gingerbread out of the oven so, all of his cookies
were charcoal black.
"Oh no." He cried. "I need some gingerbread
cookies right away for the festival."
So he ran out into the forest singing,
"I'm the Big Bad Baker Boy looking for some
gingerbread. Yum, Yum, I won't stop until I
find some fun."
