People like to go to the coastal areas for all
kinds of reasons, but Sallie Ann Blackmon liked
the coast for a specific reason. She loved sea life!
She played with hermit crabs, picked up conch
shells, and collected sharks teeth. There wasn't
anything that Sallie Ann didn't like about sea life.
So, it seemed only fitting that Sallie Ann voted for
her class to go to the aquarium for their annual
field trip at school.

The day of the field trip, Sallie Ann got up early,
dressed, and put on her favorite walking shoes.
She could not wait to get to school that day. She
packed a few things for her trip and it was time to
leave.
Once she arrived at school, Ms.Fleming prepared
them for the field trip. Sallie Ann sat at her desk
anxiously waiting to leave. When the buses arrived,
the students lined up together in front of the school,
got onto the buses, and left for the aquarium.
On the ride to the aquarium, Sallie Ann thought
about all the different fish and sea life that she would
visit, but she could not have possibly prepared herself
for what was about to happen next.

Once inside the aquarium, their first stop was to see
the sea turtles. Standing in front of the large vat of
water, Sallie Ann and her classmates watched two
large turtles as they swam right up to the glass. It
looked like they were putting on a show for the
students when all of the sudden someone whispered,
Something Smells Fishy.
Instantly, Sallie Ann jabbed John in the side with
her elbow because he always played jokes on her and
she was certain that it was him.
"Hey, why did you do that for?" John asked. But
Sallie Ann only looked at him and squinted her eyes.

Then, just as they were turning to walk away from
the turtles, Sallie Ann heard it again.
Something Smells Fishy.
"Who's saying that?" Sallie Ann shouted.
"Saying what, Sallie Ann?" Jill asked
"Well, didn't you guys hear someone say,
Something Smells Fishy?"
"Cute, Sallie Ann." Everyone laughed. Sallie Ann
realized that she had been the only one in her class to
hear it. No one else had heard a sound.
"What's happening to me?" She thought to herself.

The class walked forward through a large glass tank
of all kinds of large fish and sharks that swam above
their heads and all around them. The students were
fascinated at the display. But when Sallie Ann
confronted a giant shark, she heard something whisper,
Something Smells Fishy.
"Stop that! Who's doing that? Didn't you guys hear
that?" Shouted Sallie Ann.
"Hear what?" Her classmates laughed. "Aren't you
a bit young to be hearing voices, Sallie Ann?"
Embarrassed, Sallie Ann hung her head down and
hurried off ahead of her class to the next exhibit.

Sallie Ann arrived at the seahorse aquarium all by
herself and spent time with the little seahorses before
her classmates caught up with her. She had been
waiting to see the seahorses because they were her
favorite. She walked up to the glass where a cluster of
seahorses were hanging out together.
"Hi there little seahorses." She said quietly as she
gently placed her finger on the glass.
"You are my favorite of all the sea life." She
whispered to a small seahorse that came up to the glass
to investigate her finger.
