This is book number two of The Mule. If you haven't read book one, please do not read this one.

I remember the mountains galloping along the riverside. Nobody was there to tell me to stop; I was free. But that was years ago; now this is the day I met a mule named Cora at an animal shelter. And I did not get to say goodbye when she got bought. My knees shook; you could see my ribs, and nobody wanted me.
I wanted to escape, find where Cora was. Maybe my old home, but they let me be free in the wild. I never saw them again. I got abused by many, and people still treat me that way; these people were nicer and kinder. A chestnut is a plain brown horse with white on my nose; people would want Friesians, and they wouldn't just waste their money on me. Twoo days after, they said to put me down. I did not know what that meant; it sounded scary.
I found out what put down " means; it wasn't good. They'll give me a shot, and I'll die. So I reared back, kicked the people, and they whipped me. I fought against it. Somebody saw me. Wanted to train me. I'm already trained; this human was mad. He whipped me with the biggest whip. "Move it!" he shouted, and whipped my butt, and I walked into the trailer. I neighed and bucked the trailer door. But then I was calm; I saw another horse.
Wait, it wasn't a horse. It was a mule. I huffed. it wasn't cora. I asked her if she knew Cora, and she said yes; she said she saw Cora at a training place. The trainer said Cora's friend was so bad they brought her back. "What's your name?"Cora's friend asks. "Red," I reply. If I were still a colt, I would've been adopted by a nice family. But that's not easy for such a colt to get here. One thing Cora's friend knew was that the trailer was going the wrong way. I neighed; Cora's friend brayed. We kicked, and the man pulled the truck over and came to check on us.
The man looked mad and started to talk, "What's wrong with you,u horse! And mule! You guys are too crazy; you're gonna get me into an accident!" he shouted. He's crazy! But then... freedom! He opened the trailer door, and I bolted out. I was finally free. I galloped towards a meadow. I saw sheep, horses, and flowers. I galloped to the horses grazing. I stopped from a canter trot to a walk.
But they went through breeds; they were all mustangs. But one was different from the others, brown. It was a chestnut! I cantered towards the new chestnut. " And who are you supposed to be?" the chestnut asked. She was already a dam. Her foal was so cute. I did not know what I was doing here. I am supposed to find Cora. I galloped from the sun, going to the sun, to the hottest place, Cora said. Once the sun is above you, you'll see me, Cora adds. I remember what she said. Ii follow the sun.
The sun never came above me. days. Soon it came to ten days. I still hoped to find Cora. Right now she is probably lying under the sun, happy with her family. I neighed to the sun. Waiting for Cora to respond. But I hear nothing. It came to 20 days; the sun was still in the same place, and I was losing hope.
cora
I look to the sun, hoping for red. my freind chestnut will come for me.
I was sad and upset; Red has not come for me in 20 days. I pray. But I'm happy I have a good home. I wish he could come. I wish he could make it. Red, come home.
back to red
it was like i could here her voice in my head saying "come." it was lingering in my head until. 30 days i was turning into a aged stallion. i got older and i was gonna give up. i looked at the sun, it was allmost above me. i neigh i wish cora could here me. no hope" i mumble. 40 days my voice got elderly and myh hooves got scraped and old, some of my hooves chiped off and scars on my skin, bugs in my eyes and tears forming and drying in place.
The leaves crunched, dead and dry, hot. Was it a sign I was close to Cora? I neigh; it was so old and sorethat I believe Cora could not hear me. Then I hear a bray. Was it Cora?

two hurt
I trot around to see if I can find her, then I gallop a little bit more towards the sun, and then I see something in the distance, Cora?" I asked.
it was cora. I walked, weaving in fear. I haven't seen her in a long time. I was still walking, eyes wide, and I was once shy. Fear is not what a chestnut would have. Then a rock hit my sensitive part at my hoof; I lay in defeat and stumbled to the ground. Everything goes black.
