a process that involves the transformation of schools and other centres of learning to cater for all children - including boys and girls, students from ethnic and linguistic minorities, rural populations, those affected by HIV and AIDS, and those with disabilities and difficulties in learning" (pg 298).

Mr. Worth has come to understand the importance of teaching inclusively as each student has different needs. This term he has two new students, an immigrant student from Vietnam named Trang and a student who has a hearing impairment named Charles. Mr. Worth wants to see all his students succeed in his class which means he may have to adapt his teaching methods and activities to accommodate these two new students.

"Good Morning Class!" Mr Worth said as he put on his microphone for Charles' hearing aid. "Today we are going to start off the day by sharing our family treasures. As you all know I’ve asked you to go home and bring an object or something that is special to your family and your culture. Each student will get to present to the class and then later we will create our own books about our treasure so we may share our it with others."
Mr. Worth then wrote "Family Treasure Sharing" on the chalk board.

Mr. Worth then asked the class who would like to go first.
"I will" said Trang as she hesitantly walked to the front. "I brought this gold necklace. In Vietnam it is tradition for the mom's to give gold jewelry to the bride and groom. This was my mom's present."
"Do you still practice these traditions now that your family lives in Canada?" asked Mr. Worth.
"Yes, we even speak Vietnamese at home." answered Trang.

"Does anyone have any questions?" asked Mr. Worth.
"How do you say hi in Vietnamese?" shouted Ryan.
"Chào" Trang exclaimed. "Do you want to try?"
"Chào!" the class said in unison.
"That was good!" said Trang.
"Great Job!" said Mr. Worth satisfied with his students effort.

Each student had their turn sharing their family treasures.
When it was Charles' turn Mr. Worth was able to find an app that let Charles type what he wanted to say and the app read it out loud to the class.
He showed off his great grandfather’s Australian medals from World War 2. He told the class that one was for bravery and the other was for his service to his country.

As soon as Charles was done, Jessica shot up her hand.
"Yes Jessica?" Mr. Worth asked.
"Can I ask Charles if he's ever been to Australia?" she said.
"Come type it in the laptop so Charles can read and answer it for you." replied Mr. Worth.
Jessica ran to do just that, in which Charles replied "Yes, it is really hot there and they don’t have snow except on some mountain tops!"
