Once upon a time there was a poor builder who worked hard all week and only on Sundays did he rest in the small garden of his house together with his wife. He liked playing the flute on these days because it warmed his good heart and soothed him.

It was exactly on a Sunday like this that a snake approached him charmed by the sweet melody and started dancing to its rhythm.At first he was scared by the serpent but then he found it amusing and went on playing while the snake was dancing. When the snake got tired it left him a bag full of golden coins to thank him. The astounded man narrated the incident to his wife and they both blessed God for their good luck.

And yes dear friends, you guessed right. The snake kept on coming every Sunday for a year leaving a bag of golden coins each time to thank its hosts. People were gossiping about the poor couple becoming rich all of a sudden. They wanted to know their secret.

That’s why when the snake didn’t appear one Sunday the builder’s wife thought that people had ruined their good luck with their nasty talk. The couple discovered the snake’s bones in its nest and dag a grave to bury it in their garden.As time passed a beautiful tree grew out of the grave and the couple named it The Snake Tree.

People used to stop by the garden to admire it and often wanted to know its name but the builder didn’t reveal it. Instead he urged them to place their bets and the one who would make a right guess would be the winner. While people were struggling to solve the mystery the builder was adding more money to his already enormous fortune.

One day a dishonest man well known for his crookedness thought of tricking the builder’s wife into revealing him the name of the tree and winning the bet. He promised her the earth and the sky and the good wife fell into his trap and gave away the name .The builder lost all his fortune. Humiliated and betrayed as he was went away to in search of his destiny.
