Brock grew up in a large housing project in Wilburn, Oklahoma. He is from a large single parent family, the youngest of seven siblings. Brock is a real talented cut-up and loves to show off all the time. Amazingly, when he was just three years old, he would sing along with the music he heard playing on his sister Becky’s radio.

Becky always brags on Brock, telling him, “Sugar, you are going to make the big time one day among the bright lights and movie stars.” Brock’s mother is a widowed mom. She works ten hours a day at a local restaurant, so the kids have everything they need. Keeping food for the family’s table and paying bills is a lot of work. She strives to ensure that all her kids stay in school. She always said she wanted to see all seven of her children finish high school and then work their way through college.

Brock’s high school years are filled with fun and activities, like most teenagers. His mom tells him to be careful with the crowd he runs with, because most of them are full of the devil. He just laughs and sings his mom a few lines of the current song he wrote. He has a natural talent for music and dance and playing the piano. His music teacher exclaimed after hearing him sing an acappella song that he had a voice as sweet as an angel.

Brock is almost seventeen years old and is about to graduate the next week from high school. His grades are excellent, and he is the top of the class making, the President’s list. He receives a scholarship from a prestigious university; however, he is restless and wants to get into entertainment as soon as possible. Brock’s grandmother loves him very much; in fact, he is her favorite. Lovingly, she calls him “Sweet Pickles,” because he always loved grandmother’s sweet homemade pickles. She tries to get Brock to sing in the church choir, but he never will.
5
He smiles and says, “Grandma, my friends would laugh and mock my singing in a churchy old choir.” Grandma just shakes her head and says, “Sweet Pickles, Jesus will not play second fiddle to anyone.” Brock just laughs and says, “I’ll call Jesus when I need Him, but right now, I got some tall living to do! I’m going to make it hot on Broadway someday.”
6
Sure enough, Brock auditions for several Broadway plays. Amazingly he gets the first part he auditions for as the lead singer and actor in a new musical. He signs for a salary of five thousand dollars a week for as long as the show runs, which the producer says could be five years with Brock’s enormous talent. Without a doubt, Brock’s head is swimming. This is his first job and he gets top billing and top money. He says to himself, Man, I am good. My Mamma ain’t ever made much more than five thousand in six months on her job.
7
After the first sell-out show on opening night, a powerful Hollywood producer wants to see Brock. He wants him to star in his new film as the leading man, guaranteeing Brock 10% of the profits in ticket sales, and a two million dollar signing bonus. “Wow,” Brock says, “I’ll do it. Where do I sign?”
So he signs up to make the movie. As Brock rushes through the narrow hallway, many autograph seekers call out to him. “Brock, honey how about a picture or an autograph?”
8
Brock signs about twenty or thirty autographs and then makes his way to his new jet-black Mercedes SL500 convertible. As Brock pulls away from the curb, he is thinking how smart and how sharp a business man he is. All of a sudden, he slams on his brakes… Wow, that was close. He almost hit some old geezer carrying a homemade sign that reads: TRUST JESUS, NOW.
