But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord save me. —Matthew 14:30

It was April 1, 1978 the day I found mercy in a real hard place. I had just dropped off a friend at her grandmother’s house and was on my way back home. The weather was gorgeous, and I was enjoying it tremendously. It was exhilarating riding my motorcycle, cruising and carefree. The road I was traveling was extremely curvy and dangerous for a speeding motorcycle, not to mention the fact that I had consumed several beers that evening.

2
Suddenly, I entered a sharp hairpin curve at a high rate of speed. I lost control of the bike and crashed into an embankment. The next thing I remember is waking up on my hands and knees. At that moment, I could feel warm blood pouring down my face. I attempted to stand, but my back was broken and the pain was excruciating. At that moment, I felt, as though, I was suspended between heaven and hell. It was literally the valley of decision. No one could help me out of this predicament. The fear of death gripped my soul.

3
I was certainly not prepared to meet a holy God. About a month prior I attended a church service with a friend. The preacher gave a stirring altar call for all those who wanted to be saved. I went forward at the invitation and began to tremble from the conviction I felt. Although the Holy Spirit was urging me to yield and be born again, I refused. I was enjoying too much fun living the party lifestyle and was not ready to give it up. Now, reality had hit me square in the face.

4
I realized that my only hope was in the Lord. I cried out with all my strength" Lord save me!" Some how, some way, the Lord of glory heard my cry and saved my wretched soul. I could have come to the Lord the easy way, but stubbornly I chose the hard way. A short
time later a young Christian couple came to my rescue. They heard the crash and called an ambulance.

5
Lying on the emergency room exam table, I would ask the nurses and doctors if I would survive. They would just look at my mud caked, and blood soaked face and say I don’t know. I spent thirty days in the hospital. My back was broken in the T-10 area and required a spinal fusion and two Harrington rods. My orthopedic surgeon warned me before this surgery that there was a strong possibility that I could end up a paraplegic.

6
The only scripture I knew at the time was Psalm 23 and the 4th verse. I quoted that verse as I was wheeled into surgery. Eight hours later the surgery was over. As I awoke, the doctors ask me if I could wiggle my toes. When I wiggled my toes the staff broke out with applause. Praise the Lord I was not paralyzed! After the surgery, the doctor informed me that he had some good news and some unpleasant news.

7
The surgery was successful, but they discovered they had forgotten to install the lock washers on the rods. They successfully installed the washers after another four hour surgery. There were many wonderful things the Lord brought me through during those recovery days. When I look back on that life changing event, I shudder to think what would have happened if I had not called out to God in my hard place.

My dear friend, thank you so much for taking the time to read my booklet.
Our ministry is two fold; encouragement and warning. The encouragement is to plead with those who haven't been saved to seek Christ while they have time and opportunity. The next pages will show how to be sure you're born again. Please realize that no one can be sure how much time they have left on this earth. God is in the process of bringing judgement on the unsaved and careless souls. Those who are living a life of sin and pleasure and shun God's free gift of salvation by accepting Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour.
The serious question I must ask ; WHAT WILL YOU DO
WITH CHRIST? WHO'S SON IS HE?
