One sunny day, a young boy named John sat at his desk working on a school project for his class on how the government is organized, “Well, how am I supposed to do this project if I don’t even know what all theses words mean?” John said. Suddenly, he heard a voice from behind,” Hey there!" the voice said. John jumped from his seat and turned around, standing there was an old man smiling at him with a very bold, stripped top hat on his head. He realized he’d seen this man before, but where? and then it hit him, it was Uncle Sam! “Looks like your having trouble figuring out how the government is organized. How ‘bout I take you on a journey to the Circus?” Uncle Sam said. John was confused, “The Circus? What does the circus have to do with all of this?” “You’ll see...” Uncle Sam said.

After a long walk, they finally arrived and took their seats. John is still curious about what the circus has to do with his project. Uncle Sam explains," The 3 rings you see in the center of the floor are like the three branches of government, the executive, legislative, and judicial branch. The first ring is the executive branch, the second is the legislative, the third ring is the judicial branch." "Oh, I see! But...what does each one do?" John asked. "Look! First up is ring number one, the executive branch, it's head by the president. Just like the ringmaster leads the circus show , the president makes sure the laws are getting done. I call him, the ringmaster of the government!"

Ring number two is up next, the legislative branch, "The legislative branch, also called the congress, is broken down into two houses, the house of representatives and the senate, they both work together to pass laws and bills by sending bills back and forth until they both agree on one idea." Uncle Sam said. “So, the congress is kind of like how the jugglers juggle and pass balls between each other, right? ” "That's right! Your getting it!" Uncle Sam yelled happily.

"Next up is ring number three, the judicial branch, the judicial branch is lead by the highest court called the Supreme Court, they understand laws and they check the decisions of the lower courts.
The courts take the laws and puts them into place by deciding whether or not a law is allowed under the Constitution, just like a lion tamer puts the lion in place and trains them to do what’s right," Uncle Sam explained.
"Hmm...never thought of it that way," John says. "But that's not all" "There's more?" "There sure is."
"Each branch controls one another, keeping an eye on each other, making sure that no branch gets too much power than they are supposed to.
Just like this three ring circus, everybody's act is part of the show,
and no one's job is more important than the other,
they take care of one another."
