Guadalupe happy, Guadalupe sad, Guadalupe goofy, Guadalupe mad. This is dedicated to Mrs. Miller.

Guadalupe was in first grade when she saw her friend cry. She didn't understand why her friend would be sad. When she asked her mom why her friend would cry, her mom explained that she was feeling different emotions.

"What are emotions?" Guadalupe asked.
"Emotions are caused by a chemical release into our brains that can make us feel happy, sad, angry, and even others," Her mom replied. "Happiness is a high ratio of positive feelings to negative ones. This increases our well-being, or our satisfaction with life. When we feel happy we are more often to help others. This is the Feel-good, do good phenomenon."

"But why do we feel sad, mom?" Guadalupe asked.
"We often feel sadness when we are upset or unhappy about something," Her mom answered.
"When I saw that my friend was upset, I started to feel sad too," Guadalupe said.
"That could be because of your mirror neurons. They activate in your brain when we imagine what other people are feeling or doing."

Her mom continued, "We often feel anger too. Anger is caused by a feeling of frustration and being upset. Sometimes people release these feelings and experience an emotional release known as catharsis. There are so many things that can cause our different emotions"
Guadalupe began thinking about the emotions she often experiences. She remembered the time when she felt a sense of fear when she found a spider. Fear caused an alarm reaction out of her. Her fight or flight response was triggered.
