Something rather strange happened to me today

I learned something about myself in an odd sort of way

Then

a voice inside

my

head

whispered

A breeze

Crept

My

room

and woke me with a scare

"follow if you dare"

I slid out of bed and walked across the floor

I made my way through the dark toward my bedroom door

I twisted the knob and continued down the darkened hall

The

Lights

Began

To

Flicker

As

shadows

danced

upon

the

wall

The

voice

was

so

inviting

as

it

asked

me

to

come

near

i did so as it asked but not without some fear

as i continued to follow the voice i was overcome with dread

my feet came to a halt for i knew now where it led

like a personal

there was finally a

truth i must admit to myself

reminder

sitting on a shelf

there is something in the basement and it's been down there for years

it hides in the dark and preys upon my fears
