There's a girl named Skeeter who grew up in Jackson, Mississippi. She returns home and starts working for a newspaper writing columns about housekeeping, she doesn't know much about it so she turns to the maid, Aibleen for help.


Skeeter wants to write about the inside lives of the maids in Mississippi but Aibleen didn't want to get in trouble.


Aibleen's best friend Minny gets fired from her job and Minny becomes friends with Skeeter.


You're Fired!
Nobody wants to help Skeeter write her book and no one will tell her why, but Aibleen finally tells her that writing the book is illegal.


After getting fired, Minny decides to help Skeeter write her book and Skeeter sends it to the publisher but they tell her she needs more maids to help voice their opinion.




More maids join in and tell Skeeter their stories so she can publish her book.
