This book is dedicated to Mr. Mayer

Flat Stanley and his time travel tour guide, Theresa, have just arrived in Colonial America, 1763.

I can't believe the French and Indian War is finally over! I now want to settle west.

Haven't you heard about the new proclamation? You can't settle west of the Appalachian
Mountains anymore.

Why not?

The land is now reserved for the Natives.

New Proclamation
King George III
New reports from King George III, " You can no longer settle anywhere westward of the Appalachian Mountain, it is reserved to the Natives! Anyone who disobeys will be reprimanded."

No way! I had no idea! Thank you so much for telling me.

Our next stop will be 1765, during the Stampt Act. Remember to hold on tight when we time travel, Stanley. Let's Go!

I can't wait!

Flat Stanley and Theresa are on their way!

Here we are!

Why is everyone so upset?

Well, Flat Stanley these colonist were taxed on everything printed paper!

Even playing cards?!

Yes, even playing cards, but that wasn't the only act Flat Stanley.

Here, I'll show you. Come with me to the time machine.

Flat Stanley and Theresa are on their way to the Townshend Acts of 1767

Welcome to 1767

What happened in the Townshend Act?

The British taxed colonists on things such as lead, glass, and paint.

Well that's the last act right?

Actually, no. I have two more Acts to show you. Let's go!

Flat Stanley and Theresa are on their way to The Tea Act of 1773

We have finally arrived!

What was the Tea Act?

Colonists around the colonies staged protests called tea parties against the East India Company, where they would dumb tea overboard of the ships. The tea was important for the British economy.

What started that?

The Boston Tea Party
