Sam is a cat.
Pat is a cat.
Sam and Pat are cats. They are both fat cats. In fact, they are very fat cats.

Last Saturday, Sam had a bad cold.

That made Sam sad.

But Sam had an idea.

Sam put a bag of jam in his hat. Then he ran around with that bag and a black rag on his fat head. Next, he sat on a black mat.
Pat laughed and laughed at Sam. He laughed at Sam's hat. He laughed at the jam in that hat. Pat also laughed at the black rag.
Sam was glad.
Next, Pat sat on the black mat next to Sam and purred. Sam was happy, and now Pat was happy, too.
And that's that!
Now, for fun, find all the times short-a is in the story.
Sam is a cat.
