Constructivism

Constructivism is when people construct new knowledge and understandings based on what they already know and believe. It is used to transform how people teach. Learners construct meaning and knowledge for themselves.
In the constructivism approach, deep knowledge is created & recreated through active hands on and minds on experiences. Learning is achieved through interactions with others and educational materials. Lastly, teachers and students are partners.
Constructivist Approaches to Learning

In a constructivist approach to learning, learning is active. Students are cognitively and physically involved in the learning process. Learning is achieved through real life experiments, engaging the student to compare and contrast the differences in the experiment. This helps to increase learning through bringing the subject to life , challenging them to think outside of the box. It also encourages metacognitive thinking. This is when students become aware, self-assess, and self-reflect. It helps them to see what they know and what they do not know.
Behaviorism

The behaviorism approach is a set of changes in human behavior created as a response to events in the environment. Learning is memorizing, demonstrating, and imitating. In behaviorism, there is a drill in practice method. This is when students should be provided with explicit and planned stimuli. At this point, the teacher is the source of knowledge.
