So what's this about?" Amelia Sprinkles said. Amelia was in a tree house. Next to her sat her two best friends, Samantha Davis and Katie Farly. "I called this meeting  because...." Katie looked out the window as if the answer was there. She started slowly, "You know how we three like to spy?" "Yes?" Samantha and Amelia said, dying to know what she was going to say. Katie pulled out a notebook. She opened it to a clean page, and starting writing some notes.

Chapter One:

Clues:

"We could solve mysteries, puzzles, codes, and all sorts of different things!" She grabbed her notebook, and showed it to Samantha and Amelia. "We are going to need different gadgets for spying, as shown in the notebook." "Nice!" Samantha said. Then the three girls jumped. "Ahhhhhh!" "Zooom!" Something was coming from

outside the window. "Zoom, zoom zoom. Zoom!" When the girls looked outside the window, they realized that it was Katie's little brother, Buddy, playing with his toy 

airplane. He ran across the lawn like crazy! "It's just Buddy!" Katie laughed. The other girls joined in, too.

A little while later, Samantha and Ameila had to go home. Katie was in her room. "I am so excited! I can't wait to solve a real mystery!!! "Honey, dinner! We're having Spagetii and Meatballs!" Katie ran downstairs. "I've been thinking." Katie paused to set the table. "Could Samantha and Amelia come over more often?"

"Sure! Now go get dad and Buddy, or we're going to eat without them!"

On Sunday morning, the next day, the Farleys' got ready for church. Katie quickly grabbed her notebook, pencil, and Bible. Then they left to go to church. At church, Katie saw her friends. She was about to say something when their teacher, Mr. Moe said to turn to Psalm 37. They toke home some Bible verses to study, and then, church was over. After church, the Sprinkles, the Farleys, and the Davis' all had lunch at Fire House Subs. Katie told Amelia and Samantha that she came up with a great name for them. "What are you thinking of ?" Katie opened her notebook and wrote: The Spy Girls! 

Chapter Two:

School

On the last day of summer, Katie slept in till 11: 00. "Rise and Shine, Katie!" her mother said, while Katie was walking down the stairs. "Remember that today is 'Meet the Teacher' at 3: 00" "Yay, I know." Katie said. "I am so excited to start 5th grade! It's going to be so much fun!"

At 3 p.m., Katie was in the front seat of her mom's car while her mom is driving. "You have all your stuff right?" "Yes, I do!" then, they pulled into her school. "Okay. What is Mrs. Granger's room number again?""217" her mother said. They got their stuff and went into the school. The found Room 217, and went in. "Hi!" a woman said. She had dark black hair and braids and was wearing glasses. She looked really nice and had a big bright smile on her face. "You must be Katie's mom, Mrs. Farley." She turned to Katie. "Hi, my name is Mrs. Granger, and I am going to be your 5th grade teacher! Come, here is your desk." Katie unpacked her things, and put it in the baskets that were labeled. When she was done she went to go find Samantha and Amelia.

"Hi!" Katie said. "Hi" they said. "Have you seen the new girl?" Samantha asked. " I think her name is Kalena." "No, but I will say 'hi' to her tomorrow." "Why?" "Cause I'm leaving!"

The next day was school, and Katie was so                         excited. When it was about time to

leave, Katie's mom made a sign that

said, "I'm a 5th grader!" When she

got to school,  her new 5th grade teacher wrote

what the students would do.

It said:

I'm a 5th grader!

8 : 40 - Go around the class to meet everyone 9 :00 - Snack 'n math 1.1

9: 30 - P.E. 10 : 15 : Bathroom break

10: 25 - Social Studies 10: 40 - Centers

11: 10 - Bible Time: Part 1 12: 00 - Lunch 12: 45 - Recess 1: 00 - Silent reading 1: 45- Bible Time Part 2 2: 00 Leave

"Welcome to 5th grade! My name is Mrs. Granger, and I am going to be your 5th grade teacher. Okay so, first, we are going to 'go around the class and meet everyone'" Mrs. Granger passed out a sheet a paper to everyone.

"On this sheet of paper, we are going to write the name of the person we meet, and write what he/she likes to do. Go ahead!" There were children all over the place when Mrs. Granger said "Go" Everyone met a lot of people  except for Kalena. She sat there all by herself, until  Katie went up to her. "Hi" Katie said. "Are you new here?" "Yes! My name is Kalena and I LOVE to draw and create things! What's your name?" "My name is Katie Farley. I sit in the front row next to Amelia and Aurora. Do want to sit at lunch this afternoon?" "Sure! I would love that!"

When it was 10 :15, it was time for a bathroom break. "Three at a time, please!" Mrs. Granger told her class. "Oh, great!" Katie whispered to Samantha. "You know Alexa and her two best friends? They went into the bathroom together! Who knows what their up to!"

At home, a few hours later, Katie opened her Spy Notebook and wrote : Alexa and her two best friends, Seria and Emily went into the bathroom together! Who knows what their up to! Katie thought for a moment and then wrote: Try to find small cameras! "Hey mom?" "Yes?" "Can I get on my computer?" "Sure!" Katie went on her computer and searched:

Search! She searched it, but all it showed was small cameras that took pictures. Let's try it again! Katie thought. So she did it again.

Search! There we go! Katie thought. "On amazon it is only $5 plus tax. It comes with 3 different cameras." Ding! "It will be here in a week?! Eh. I guess I can wait that long. I've got to tell Amelia and Samantha!"

Chapter Three:

Secret Messages

On the second day of school, Amelia noticed that Alexa passed a note to Emily and she giggled. "Emily pay attention!" Mrs. Granger was telling the class that there is a Soccer team for the boys, and the girls would be cheering for the boys. "Okay. So the boys are on the team, The Bears. Go Bears!" The classed laughed because Mrs. Granger said "Go Bears" in a low voice. Emily passed a note to Alexa. When she read the note, they both laughed.

"Girls, that's two stricks! Next is detention!" The day was great, and they never got detention, but right after class was dismissed, Amelia noticed the exact same note Emily passed to Alexa, fell to the ground. Amelia looked to see if no one was looking, and picked up the note. She read it, and she was so confused. "What?" she said. "What is this?" It said:

"I need to tell Samantha and Katie about this!" Amelia said, silently to herself. So, she brought the note home.

An hour later, Amelia, Samantha and Katie were sitting on Katie's bed. "Wait! Look!" Samantha said. "You know how the last word is pointing to the beard? I think the last word is beard. O-r-n-e-q stands for 'beard'. E and R are the same. How can the other letters be the same?" She thought for a moment and then she knew. She got a piece of paper and a 

pencil. Then she wrote:

"I think your right!" Amelia said. After a few minutes of decoding the message, it said, "How could you picture Seria with a beard?" "Wow! It must be a difficult time for Seria!" Katie said. "Let's see what's going to happen tomorrow."

The next day, Samantha, Katie, and Amelia sat near Alexa, Emily, and Seria, sitting a few feet away."What have you been hiding from me?" cried Seria. She was really upset. "Nothing!" Alexa shouted.  "Yay!" agreed Emily. Seria looked like she was going to cry. "I am not friends with you anymore! Never!" she throw sobs. Then lunch was over, and then recess came. 

  Chapter Four:

A Surprising Suprise

When the day was over, Katie was going to bed, when she had a thought We haven't really been writing in the Spy Notebook. Maybe I should write something else. Katie quietly tip-toed to her desk. Her desk is always piled and piled of stuff. When she found her notebook, it only said a few things. It said: Clues: Alexa and her two best friends, Emily and Seria went into the bathroom together! Who knows what their up to! Try to find small cameras! She scribbled it out. There were new clues like: Why are Alexa and Emily being mean to Seria? And 

what will they do next? What is going to happen to Seria? What if- "Katie!" Oh no! Katie heard her mom's voice coming from the hallway. She quickly got into bed, closed her eyes, and pretended to sleep and snore because Katie snores. A lot. I think. Anyway, back to the story: When her mother came into her room she said, "Rise and Shine, sleepy head!" What? Morning already? She opened her eyes, and found herself in her bed. She looked her clock. The clock read:   7:25    Oh boy! In 5 minutes, school would be starting.         Katie quickly made her bed, got dressed, grabbed her backpack, and raced downstairs to get a banana on the go. Right as she said "goodbye" to her parents, the just arrived at her house.

"Phew!" Katie said as she was walking to her seat. As she was going to her seat, she noticed Seria sitting by herself, looking down at the floor. Katie felt bad for her, so she decided to talk to her. "Hi," Katie said slowly. Seria looked up, shocked. "Hi," Seria said sadly. "Um, I saw what happened the other day at lunch." Katie stopped. She don't know what to say. "Oh, yea." Seria looked at Katie. By then, Katie was sitting down next to Seria. "They have been really mean to me lately. Alexa and Emily. A few days ago, I noticed that they passed each other notes. If only I knew what one of the notes said." Oh, boy! Katie thought to herself. Should I show it to her? Katie looked into her backpack. She grabbed the note, and showed it to Seria. "Wha......?" She paused. 

"What is this? I have no clue what it says!" "Really?" Katie was so surprised. It was a surprising surprise. "So, you and Alexa and Emily never started a secret language?" "We did, but we stopped it because we didn't like it. We never started a new one. Do you know what it says?" "Yes, but it might hurt your feelings." "Read it and never tell it to me again!" "Okay. It says, 'How would you picture Seria with a beard?'" Seria started to cry again. The kids sitting in front of them, Lily and Aurora looked back. "What's wrong?" "Is she okay?" "Yeah. We just need a minute." Katie replied. She hugged Seria until she stopped. "Thanks." Seria said, right when the bus turned into the school. "You're welcome. That's what friends do. Hey, do you want to
