A family centered approach has five different components in order to be successful.
Recognizing and respecting one another's knowledge and expertise (Wardle, 2013).

Sharing information through two-way communication (Wardle, 2013).

Sharing power and decision-making (Wardle, 2013).


Acknowledging and respecting diversity (Wardle, 2013).
Creating networks of support (Wardle, 2013).

A family centered approach has five benefits to families.

Enriched Communication are gained for children, families, and professionals (Wardle, 2013)

All gain shared power and decision making (Wardle, 2103).

Families, children, and professionals gain supportive relationships

Everyone would gain a network of mutual support (Wardle, 2013).
