Once upon a time, in the town of Gummyville, there lived two sisters named Naomi and Nancy. One day while the two girls were on their way to the park, Naomi heard a strange noise coming from the bushes.

"Did you hear that Nancy"? asked Naomi.

"Hear what"? asked Nancy.

"It sounded like a baby crying coming from the bushes". answered Naomi.

Upon further inspection they found a tiny baby girl lying in the bushes wrapped in only a thin blanket.

"What should we do with her"? asked Nancy.

"Lets take her home to Mom, she will know what to do". said Naomi.

"Good idea, we better hurry". Nancy stated.

"Mom, look what we found on our way to the park". said Naomi.

"Is that a baby"? she asked in disbelief.

"It sure is, what should we do with it"? asked Nancy.

"Lets see if she needs to be changed and then we will have to call the police". said their mother.

After they got her changed and put clean clothes on her they waited for the police to arrive.

"Mom, can't we keep her"? asked Naomi.

"First we have to find out if she is lost, I am sure her mother is frantic right now". said their mother.

Just then the police arrived.

"What a cute baby, where did you find her"? asked Officer Hops.

"My daughters found her on the path to the park and there was no one else around". answered their mother.

"I will have to take her into protective custody and put out an APB on a missing baby girl". explained Officer Hops.

"Ok, can you keep us informed on how it turns out"? asked their mother.

"I will do that". answered Officer Hops.

Two weeks later they received a call from Officer Hops telling them they have been unable to locate the mother and the baby is going into foster care.

When their mother told them, Naomi and Nancy were very sad.

"Mommy can't we keep her"? they both asked.

"We could volunteer to be her foster family and see what happens". suggested their mother.

"I will call and tell them that we are willing to be her foster family". she told them.

After they were approved to be a foster family, they waited for Officer Hops to bring her.

After what felt like forever, finally the doorbell rang.

"That must be Officer Hops, I will get the door". said their mother.

When Officer Hops came in she handed the baby over to her mother.

"Did you figure out what her name is"? asked their mother.

"We just called her baby "A". said Officer Hops.

"Then we will have to give her a new name". said their mother.

"What about Maya"? asked Nancy.

"That sounds good" said Naomi as they all agreed.

"I will have to put the new name in the paperwork". explained Officer Hops.

Maya's mother was never found so they ended up adopting her as their own.
