Neveah furiously panted as she walked away. People would ignore Neveah, and she hated it. She held her tears back as she stomped over to the basketball court. Her frenemies were playing Red Rover. Neveah barley wanted to play, but she had no choice. She had the urge to tag people, but she couldn't just walk in and be a Red Rover. She had a plan. Neveah went over to Ezlynn, the red rover. Neveah and Ezlynn weren't the best of friends, but they both had something in common. They both had missing parents.
Neveah sauntered over to Ezlynn. Neveah's shirt was as blue as the sky, so Neveah said, "Ezlynn, I know we aren't the best of friends, but say 'If your shirts blue, come over' " And so she did.
Neveah walked, and Ezlynn touched her. Now Neveah was a Red Rover.
The cluster of kids ran over to the other line as Neveah and Ezlynn thought of what to say. "Red Rover, Red Rover," Neveah said, " If you're wearing black, come over!"
Daeva and Keres ran over, along with a bunch of other kids. They were the bullies to Neveah. They were the kind of kids that were the best in front of adults, but horrible towards kids when adults weren't looking. They taunted Neveah.
Neveah swiftly tagged Daeva. She didn't stop but kept running. Then Neveah tagged Keres. She did it too.

As Neveah and Ezlynn walked home together, something jumped out of the bush behind them. Neveah's heart skipped a beat when she saw who it was.
Clumsy little Israel limped over to the two girls. He had been trying to make friends with them all year, and now he had crutches. How exactly was he able to jump out of a bush? Why was he here? Why now?
He spoke in a cracked voice "Daeva and Keres-" pant "They are coming! You must-" pant "hide." Israel fell to the floor gasping for air, and he closed his eyes.
The two girls stared blankly, not knowing what to do. So they ran. The closest adult was Dr. Mavery, their principal. She got a glimpse of them when Daeva and Keres came.
"We'll-" they stopped and smiled "help."
"What's going on?"
"Dr. Mavery! Isreal came up to Neveah and me and said something weird! Then he fainted! Help us!" said Ezlynn.
