Since 2009, StoryJumper has helped authors bring their stories to life. Our mission is to continue to be a place of choice for authors of all ages to tell their stories. This Privacy Statement will explain how we protect your privacy when using our services, including the data we collect, why we collect it and what we do with it. It, together with our Independent Account Terms of Service, create our agreement with you, plus other policies as applicable such as COPPA and GDPR.
Data Security. When you use StoryJumper, our commitment is to ensure your personal data is secure.
No Ads. There are no third party ads on StoryJumper.
Protecting Children’s Privacy. If you are a young author or the parent of a young author, you will find that we have high privacy standards. We also comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Act (“COPPA”) and partner with parents and legal guardians to ensure your child’s safe use of our services. Transparency. Below you will find clear, understandable information on data we collect and how we use it. We also provide information on data that you may choose to voluntarily share.
Information we collect + how we use it
When creating a StoryJumper Independent Account, we will ask for a date of birth. Date of birth is required so that we can comply with COPPA guidelines. Based on the user’s age, the following applies.
COPPA Users Under 13: If a user self identifies as under 13, we will request a parent or legal guardian’s email address as outlined in our COPPA policy, which is incorporated herein. Information collected for COPPA governed accounts where the user is under 13 is outlined in our COPPA policy.
Users Over 13: For Independent Accounts we also collect username, email address, first and last name and ordering history. These are necessary for us to provide services to you and communicate with you. We may also collect information as you use our services to help us improve what we do. This may include identifiers such IP address, device/browser /operating system type and settings, terms searched for, read and liked books.
The remainder of the information in this Privacy Statement applies to Independent Accounts where the user is 13 or over.
Information you share + your responsibility
Voluntarily Shared Additional Personal Information. In using our services, you may voluntarily share personal information such as: photos, voice, text, personal biography, and/or comments. This may be used by you to create an account profile and in your story content. You agree that StoryJumper does not require this information to use its story creation services and is supplied solely at your discretion.
Use of Public Forums. You may also choose to share publicly your account information, story content, and/or participate in public forums we offer such as online forums, blogs, comment sections, virtual communities, and message boards (collectively “Public Forums”). When you disclose personal information in Public Forums, you agree that you do so at your direction. This information can be read, collected and used by other users on our site, including using it to send you unsolicited messages. As such, you agree that there is no expectation of privacy or confidentiality with respect to your posts in Public Forums and you agree that StoryJumper is not responsible or liable for anything related to your Public Forum posts.
Information we share
We do not share personal information with companies, organizations and individuals outside of StoryJumper unless one of the following circumstances applies:
For external processing required to deliver Services. When delivering requested services, we may provide personal information to our trusted business partners/sub-processors to process it for us in order to deliver the service. This includes our use of payment providers and book publishers. These business partners process the personal information based on our instructions and to deliver the services you have requested.
For legal reasons. There are also limited situations where we may disclose personal information if we have a good-faith belief that access, use, preservation or disclosure of the information is reasonably necessary to meet one of the following obligations:
- meet any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request, enforce applicable Terms of Service, including investigation of potential violations.
- detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues.
- protect against harm to the rights, property or safety of StoryJumper, our users or the public as required or permitted by law.
New ownership. If the ownership or control of all or part of StoryJumper changes as a result of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, we may transfer your information to the new owner.
Review, correction and deletion of information
All of your personal information is accessible through your Independent Account access. You can directly review, correct and delete contact information and any personally identifiable information that you have voluntarily shared.
Do Not Track.
This website does not support “Do Not Track” requests.
Links To Third Party Sites.
Our website may include links to third party sites or external resources (“External Web Sites”). StoryJumper does not endorse or control these websites and provides them only as a convenience to you. You acknowledge and agree that we are not responsible for your use of External Web Sites.

Updates + Acceptance.
We reserve the right to update and modify this Privacy Statement, as may be required by law, best practices and/or our own practices. You agree that your continued use of our site and services constitutes and acceptance of those updates.
Interpretation of conflicting terms
This Privacy Statement is intended to provide the key information about our collection and use of data for Independent Accounts. It is incorporated as part of the StoryJumper Terms of Service. Where there are terms that appear to differ, the Terms of Service takes precedence, followed by this Privacy Statement.
