StoryStarter - Tell a Story in 7 Steps

The StoryStarter™ lesson plan is a tool for teaching students the creative writing process. The goal of the lesson plan is to coach students in building the 7 primary components of a story (Characters, Challenges, Motivation, Setting, Obstacles, Climax, and Closing). Students fill out a graphic organizer during the prewriting phase.

Write books with other students around the world!

Students learn what it's like to grow up in each other’s country, providing an authentic, cross-cultural experience. They can write their collaborative books using a language that is common among the teachers and students. For example, an American student learning Spanish could be paired up with a student from Mexico learning English.

Narrate a Book

Students can practice their reading and speaking skills by narrating a template book that you prepare for them. Each student will get their own copy of the template book, hear your narration, and then record their own voice narrating each page.
