"Mom!" Sophia called out as she danced into the kitchen. 

"Yes?" Sophia's mom said, as she was making Sophia's lunch for school.

"Can you make me an extra sandwich today?" Sophia asked. 

"I guess so." Sophia's mom answered as she reached for more bread, wondering what the perky 1st grader was up to.

"Thanks Mom!" Sophia said happily as she picked up her lunchbox and headed out to the school bus. 

"Bye Buddy! See you after school." She said to her puppy who was wagging his tail as she skipped away.

The next day before school Sophia again came bouncing into the kitchen.

"Mom!" Sophia called out as she started eating her cereal.

"Yes?" Sophia's mom said as she was making Sophia's lunch for school. 

"Can you pack me an extra apple today?" Sophia asked.

"You sure have been hungry lately." Sophia's mom says as she puts two apples in the bright pink lunchbox. 

"It's always good to have a little extra just in case!" Sophia exclaims and smiles. 

"That is true." her mom says and sends her off to school. 

The next day before school Sophia is running and laughing as she comes into the kitchen with Buddy.

"Mom!" Sophia says, out of breath.

"Yes?" Sophia's mom said as she cut carrots for Sophia's lunch. 

"Can you pack me an extra apple and an extra sandwich today?" Sophia asked, "Pleasseeeeee?" 

"So two extra things?" Sophia's mom asks confused. 

"Yes please. I really need both." Sophia says as she rubs Buddy's belly. 

"Well Okay." Her mom says and starts to make another sandwich.

Later that day, Sophia's mom decided to call Miss. Stella, Sophia's teacher and ask her if there might be a reason Sophia is suddenly so hungry.

Miss. Stella explained that they have a new boy in their class named Charlie, a shy child, who didn't want to talk to anyone and sat by himself at lunch. He also had nothing to eat his first week at school.
