To all my friends, you have always been valued

Once upon a time there lived a family of five. In this family, there lived a mother, a father, a son, and a daughter. The son's name was Edwin. The daughter's name was Sabine. Sabine was hopeful and bright, while Edwin was more of a gloomy kind of person. Sabine had dark skin, green eyes, and black hair. Edwin had the same, though their personalities couldn't be more different. One day their mother decided to tell them a story. Sabine laughed and clapped her hands while Edwin groaned. He was not a big fan of stories. Their mother continued her story, ignoring Edwin.
"One day, in a deep wooded thicket, there was a girl named Archanne. She was a little girl, maybe as old as Sabine. She and her parents loved to walk in the woods. One day, they took a walk. Archanne saw a bramble of blackberries. Now, Archane was a huge fan of blackberries. She dashed over to the bramble, while her parents adventured on. Archanne was gobbling up the blackberries when a spirit came."
"A what-what?" Edwin could not contain his curiosity.
"A spirit. Somebody who died in the woods and now haunts it."
"Oh. That's creepy." Edwin said, shivering.
"Anyway, you know what the spirit did to her?"
"What??" Sabine and Edwin said in unison.
"They killed her. And made her one of them."
"Oh mom, that's so sad!" Sabine cried, hugging her mom fiercely.
"It sure is."
Even Edwin cowered a bit. "I'm glad that story isn't true."
"Oh it is."
"Really?" Sabine's eyes became misty.
"But now Archanne protects the woods. As a spirit."
The next day, Sabine wanted to go for a walk in the woods.
"Alright, but stay close to me."
Sabine nodded. She would never not be close to her mother after her story last night. They walked along. Sabine heard a crunch beneath her foot and shrieked.
"Relax, it's just a stick. I hope." Her mother said.
A wolf howled. Sabine cried out, clinging to her mother.
"Edwin!" Sabine's mother scolded. Edwin had been making the noises all along.
"Those who are mean are punished," An airy voice said.
Sabine rolled her eyes. "C'mon, cut down on the jokes, Edwin."
"It wasn't me, I swear!" Edwin said.
Sabine snorted. Sure, she thought, such a liar.
"It isn't nice to think bad thoughts either, Sabine."
Sabine looked at Edwin, annoyed, but he whimpered and hugged their mother.
"M-m-mom? What was that?"
Their mother didn't answer for a moment.
"Archanne. Children, grab anything to defend yourself."
A misty smoke swirled around them, and a girl appeared.
She wore a blood red cloak that contrasted her bright green eyes. She was beautiful, but beat up. There were scars streaking her face.
"Die or die." She whispered.
"I choose," Sabine's mother hesitated. "Die."
Archanne snapped, and the lady fell to the floor. In a gust of wind, she reappeared. Her voice was light and echoed.
"I am a spirit now. Sabine, Edwin, RUN!"
Sabine felt her blood boil.
"You killed my mother. Get ready to pay."
She grabbed a branch and whipped it at Archanne. It went right through her. Archanne snapped, and Sabine crumpled to the floor. She stood up, knowing her fate. She and Archanne dueled throwing punches and kicking each other. Archanne snapped her fingers wildly, and pulled Sabine to the ground.
"And how am I supposed to pay?" Archanne's lips curved into a sinister smile.
Sabine reached for Archanne and pulled her into a hug. While she hugged her, she whispered something into Archanne's ear.
I know you're in the soul of someone you are not. Don't let the past stop you, or you are blind and deprived of love.
