Chapter One: The Portal
One day I was in my art room, writing an essay on Ancient Egypt.
My art room had pink walls and hardwood floors. My desk was made from light brown wood. On my desk there was my computer, my pencil case, and the paper for my essay.
I was just about to start my essay when a pink portal appeared.
“Wha-” I started.
Then the portal sucked me up.
I arrived in a room that appeared to be made of sand-colored stone. The floor and ceiling was also made up of the same material. The air was cool and damp. I didn’t see any door. “How am I supposed to get out of here?” I muttered to myself. Then, I heard a booming voice that sounded to be coming from everywhere and nowhere at the same time. I couldn’t see what was making the voice.
“WELCOME TO THE CURSED SCAVENGER HUNT OF DOOOOM!” Why am I in a weird place about to do a scavenger hunt? I thought. This is ridiculous. “YOU MUST FIND THE OBJECTS IN ONE HOUR’S TIME, LEIA ENGER, OR WAKE THE MUMMY!” Okay, now
this very creepy and very loud voice was starting to scare me. I did not want to wake up a mummy. And how did this creepy voice know my name? Then I noticed where I must be: In an Egyptian pyramid! Umm… I thought. How do I know what I’m looking for in this crazy pyramid? Then, like the weird voice read my mind, a sheet of paper appeared in front of me.
Items You Must Find
1. The Sword of Bluntness
2. Random Piece of Mummified Cake
3. The Worthless Piece of Fake Gold
4. The Amulet that Always Breaks
5. A Random Sheet of Papyrus
“THERE ARE YOUR ITEMS” The strange voice said. These are the weirdest and most useless items I have ever heard of.“GOOD LUCK”
Okay. I thought. First, I need to find The Sword of Bluntness. I then noticed the outline of a door on the wall next to me. I pushed on the wall. It pushed open just like a door. I then walked into another room. It looked the exact same as the one that I had just been in, except for a tapestry hanging on the wall. I was very dusty and showed a field of a wheat-like plant. That would be used to make papyrus. I pushed back the tapestry, which was as tall as me, looking for a door. There was no door, only a sheet of papyrus.
Was this the Random Sheet of Papyrus? Then I noticed it had hieroglyphs on it. There was one symbol that looked like a hook, one that resembled a bird, one
that looked like a zig zag, and one that looked like a hand.
I didn’t know what it meant, but I knew it couldn’t be a random sheet of papyrus. I pulled it off the wall and stuck it in a cloth bag that I had found. I then walked towards the other wall to look for a door when the floor opened up and I fell into a room below. Then the floor closed up, leaving me in darkness.
I stood up, feeling around for something, anything that gave light. I then tripped over something and fell on what felt like a button. Then, the room slowly became visible. I looked around. Right below my feet was a button, so I was correct about that. I looked around. Except for three large chests in the corner, the room was empty. I walked over to the chests. Each one was labeled in, oddly, English. I had expected hieroglyphs. Why would there be English writing in a pyramid? This place was getting weirder and weirder. They were labeled Something, Something, and Nothing. Since this place was so weird, I decided to open the Nothing chest. Just as I had expected, it had nothing in it.
I then opened both the Something chests. One had 3 gems in the bottom, which I put in my cloth bag, and the other had a sheet of paper. The random sheet of papyrus!
I then turned it over. It was a map, not a random sheet of papyrus. There were 2 layers to the pyramid. One the level above, there were the other 2 rooms that I had visited: The room of The Voice, and the Tapestry Room. On this level, there was the Room of Chests, the Room of Sand, the Room of Treasure, and the Room of Codes. The only room that led off the room of chests, where I was, was the room of codes.
I wondered what I would find there. I then pushed on
a wall, hoping it would have a door on it. The wall completely vanished, leading the way to the Room of Codes.
