Once there was a boy named Oliver Long. He was a kindergartener at Shadowglen Elementary. 

One day, Oliver was in his classroom, drawing a pumpkin at his desk. He felt his foot touch something on the floor. He reached down to see what it was.

"What is this?" he wondered. He looked on the floor and saw a special pencil. "Hey I found an orange pencil!" he shouted. "A brand new orange pencil!"

He took the pencil and started drawing on his pumpkin. All of a sudden, the pumpkin grew into a real pumpkin. Right in front of his eyes!

"What? How is that possible?" Oliver wondered “How could that be?”

Oliver showed his special orange pencil to his friend Damian and Aria. 

"Wow!" said Damian. "That's cool!" said Aria.

"Look at my special pencil!" Oliver showed Ms. Helms, his teacher.

“That's cool." said Ms. Helms. "It's time to line up for gym. Why don't you bring it there so you can show it to Coach?"

As the class was walking to gym, Oliver's put his pencil inside the pocket of his black jeans. When he got to gym he took out his pencil to show Coach.

The special pencil was now black. Oliver was confused. He showed Damian and Aria that it turned black. 

They said, “it must be black because it was in your black jeans!"  

Aria said “Wow!”

Oliver said, "That is so strange!"
