Once upon a time there was a little girl named Ella. Her parents loved her more than anything else. Ella loved to read and write. 

When she was 3 years old, her mom got in a car accident. 

Ella was very sad because her mom died.

One year later, her dad got cancer in his lungs and poor Ella had to live with her strict Grandparents.

Her Grandparents believed that girls should not read or write, unless necessary. However, they still had to send Ella to a school. 

At school, Ella had a lot of fun. She told her Grandparents that her school ended at 5:00 pm but actually, her school really ended at 3:00 pm.

She lied so she could have an hour for writing stories in school and another hour in the library. Eventually, her Grandma figured out that her school really ended at 3:00 pm instead of 5:00 pm.

She asked the teachers, why Ella lied. Her teachers told her that Ella was spending her extra time in school in the library; writing stories. They didn't know she was hiding it from her Grandparents.

Ella’s Grandparents got very mad at her. She got herself grounded for 1 year and she was miserable for a long time. 

Her only comfort was her cat, Kiki and school. Kiki would always cuddle her when she was sad and comforted her when she was crying.

As Ella was growing up, she usually only got oil and a broken oil lamp for her birthdays. She was very smart and got the lamp to work. She took her stationary  home from school every day so she could write when she was supposed to sleep.

Ella also took her Grandpa’s books so she could read them. Her Grandpa soon realized that his books were missing so she stopped. 

In 1 year, Ella wrote 10 stories.

When she grew up, she went to a highly ranked University on Scholarship even though her Grandparents did not approve.
