One day a little girl named Asteri was born. She was very sweet and beautiful. Her hair was blond and her eyes a sharp blue with a warm smile spread across her face. Her dress sparkled as if a million diamonds were lodged inside. Her mother was Selene, goddess of the moon and her father was Uranus, god of the heavens. Her brothers and sisters where very ugly. They were the titans, horrible beasts of the elements. She was the only normal child Uranus had. As she grew older she began to explore the earth, which her father didn’t appreciate because he didn’t want her to get hurt by the wild animals that Artemis had created. “Asteri, please don’t go to earth. I don’t want you to get hurt.”
As she grew older she began to explore the earth, which her father didn’t appreciate because he didn’t want her to get hurt by the wild animals that Artemis had created. “Asteri, please don’t go to earth. I don’t want you to get hurt.” But she continued going to earth because she longed for the sweet green grass and the sparkling crystal clear rivers.
Then, one day she ran into Artemis and she said "Dear child, I would like to create another animal, and I have seen how much you adore my creations. So I will let you choose what the new animal looks like." Asteri agreed happily and began telling Artemis what she wanted it to look like. "Give it fur, pointy ears, and give it good hearing and eyesight and make sure it is sweet."
Then she created it. First she used mist, to make it beautiful and graceful. Then she used a rose, to make it sweet with keen senses. Last of all she used rock, to make it strong. "It's beautiful!" She cried. Then Artemis asked "What shall I call it?" Asteri answered "Call it....wolf." So then it was called wolf. "But Artemis, may we call this one Tharros?" Artemis answered "Yes, my dear."
So Asteri brought Tharros home to show her father. "Asteri, what is that vile beast you have brought home? I thought I told you never to set foot on earth!" Asteri replied "Father, I am sorry for my disobedience, but Artemis has made me this creature with her own hands. It was a gift."
Uranus sighed, and said "So be it. You can keep Tharros, but please be careful with him. He is a predator and he can turn on you any second." From then on she brought Tharros everywhere she went. He was loyal and brave, he was sweet and cunning. Tharros was everything she dreamed. His coat flowed in the wind like a river and you could see fire in his eyes.
Tharros waited for her to come to earth every single day. But, one day, she didn't visit him. He went searching for her but could not find her anywhere. So, he went to Zeus to ask him if he knew where Asteri went.
Zeus replied "Asteri is lost, and she cannot return." Tharros questioned him, "What happened? Where is she?" Zeus told him that Asteri was captured by Khione, an evil nymph. "She has a heart as cold as ice and she cannot be defeated. She was good long ago, but when her brother died she closed her heart to all creation forever."
Tharros didn't know what to do so, he started towrds thr forest On his way he saw a beautiful, bright white owl and Tharros decided to follow. It brought him to a snowy, wide open plain and he decided to begin to search for Asteri.
