"Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might, have this wish I wish tonight."
Avery says this every night before her parents come to tuck her in and every night she wishes a new wish.

"What did you wish for tonight Avery?"
"You know I can't tell you, or it won't come true!"
Her parents chuckled as they got Avery into bed. "Good night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite." They kissed her forehead and walked out of her room, closing the door behind them.
As Avery was slowly drifting to sleep she heard a voice calling her name. She thought it could be her little brother but he couldn't talk yet, who was it?
She looked around her room but she could not find the source of the voice!
Where was it coming from?

Hi there!

She looked out of her window and she found out who was talking to her. It was the Moon! He was glowing very bright and Avery could see his big smile.

what are you doing here Moon?
Avery was curious why the moon wanted to talk to her. "Well Avery," said the Moon, "I heard your wish tonight so I am here to talk to you until you fall asleep."
Avery was so excited to hear this. She talked to the Moon for hours that night until she fell asleep. A few days passed and the Moon kept coming back but Avery noticed his big round face beginning to get smaller.

Two nights later when Avery looked out of her window to talk to the Moon, he wasn't there! Where could her friend have gone? Avery decided to get into bed and stay awake until the Moon came back.
The next morning Avery decided to ask her parents where the Moon went. "Why does the Moon disappear?" she asked. Her dad answered "Well, that is a very good question! How about you draw the Moon every night until he comes back and we can figure it out together."
She got to work drawing what the Moon looked like before he disappeared.
