Hello. I am Melvie! I conquered COVID-19 and I want to tell you about it!

So first, we all got sent home because of coronavirus. Quarantine was terrible!

My parents thought everyone was overreacting. "Don't worry, little Melvie" they said. "This is nothing."

So I thought, if mom and dad think it's nothing, it must be nothing. A few days later I started having a tickle in my throat.

Again, nothing, I told myself. But it was something. Soon I started coughing, and then I got a fever. My parents began to worry.

The fever didn't go down. My parents eventually took me to the hospital and I tested positive. I was one of the three percent of kids that got COVID-19.

What were the chances! True, I did live in Shanghai, a big city in China. And we probably did go out too much. Whoops.

I was terrified. I was too young! I didn't want to die!

The doctors told me only 3.4 percent of people with coronavirus died, and I felt better.

"Kids are better with it than adults, because their immune systems are still adapting.

"So kids immune systems can adapt around the coronavirus. Plus all kids have only had low to medium symptoms." The doctors were so reasurring, and right.
